A compact inner-city site became the setting for a generous family haven in this major Lilyfield heritage house renovation. Full project details below.
Working within the proportions and character of the original home, we carefully reconfigured the house to create a much stronger sense of light, space and connection. Original heritage details, including the beautiful arched hallway and decorative ceilings, were retained and celebrated, while the rear of the home was transformed for contemporary family living.
A light-filled new living area opens directly onto an elevated verandah and garden, with soaring ceilings and high-level glazing drawing daylight deep into the house. From here, the home steps down through the landscaped garden to the new swimming pool, creating a sequence of indoor and outdoor spaces that makes this compact Lilyfield site feel remarkably generous.
The result is a home that feels relaxed, warm and highly liveable — balancing the charm and craftsmanship of the original heritage house with a fresh contemporary architectural response.
