This Paddington terrace renovation transforms a compact inner-city home into a light-filled, highly functional contemporary residence. Full project details below.
An unusual existing stair location created the opportunity for a new light well and internal window, bringing daylight into the centre of the home and creating a greater sense of depth across the narrow footprint. Clever planning also allowed a powder room and laundry to be integrated beneath the stair and kitchen, making use of space that might otherwise have been lost.
Skylights bring further natural light into the kitchen and living areas, while large steel-framed doors open the rear of the house to the courtyard. Warm timber, natural stone, soft neutral finishes and brass detailing give the interiors a relaxed contemporary character, balanced by retained original elements that preserve the identity of the terrace.
